What is ACPAD?
ACPAD (pronounced "Ack-pad") is the world’s first Wireless MIDI controller for acoustic guitars. It’s an extremely thin device which mounts on top of your guitar and lets you play hundreds of instruments, modify sounds and record live - right at your fingertips.

How does it work?
ACPAD pairs with your computer (Mac OS / Windows 10) or iOS devices and works wirelessly (using MIDI over Bluetooth). You can also directly plug in ACPAD in to your computer via a USB cable. MIDI signals from ACPAD can be used to trigger samples from your computer / iOS device. Go to Top
What additional equipment/software do I need to make music with ACPAD?
To get started with ACPAD you will need:
A laptop/desktop (PC/Mac) or an iOS Device (For more information about device compatibility, check out devices.acpad.com)
ACPAD Replay software for Mac OS / Windows (Download it here),any MIDI-compatible Standalone VST, or Digital Audio Workstation (Pro Tools, Ableton, Logic, Cubase, GarageBand etc) or any software that accepts MIDI input.
We do include a copy of Ableton Live Lite with each and every ACPAD. This is a $70 value at no additional cost - only for our customers.
A USB port and a mini-USB Cable for a direct wired connection of ACPAD
Bluetooth 4 (BLE) enabled computer (MacOS or Windows 10), or an iOS device like an iPad or iPhone for using ACPAD wirelessly.
Additional accessories (Not mandatory): External speakers / headphones / monitors or an amplifier to listen to your awesome playing. You can even add an additional MIDI device you would like to trigger using ACPAD!

Will ACPAD fit my guitar?
ACPAD has been designed to fit common full sized acoustic guitars.

How thick is ACPAD?
ACPAD, for the most part, is 3.5 mm thick - that’s a little more than 2 US pennies stacked. It’s 10mm thick in the small section just south of the bridge. Go to Top
Are there any modifications to my Guitar? Will it leave residue or ruin my favorite guitar?
There are absolutely no modifications needed to place ACPAD on your favorite guitar. We’ve user-tested our mounting pads to ensure that they don’t cause any damage to the guitar’s finish. Go to Top
How is ACPAD mounted to my guitar?
ACPAD mounts to your guitar with a sticky rubber-like material that works no matter how many times you apply or reapply ACPAD to your guitar. It is non-marking and non-staining - that means it will not ruin your guitar’s finish!
If the mounting pads picks up too much dirt or dust, you can simply wipe them clean with the tip of a wet cloth or napkin and it is ready to use again in a couple of minutes!

Does ACPAD pick up the sound coming from my guitar strings?
No. ACPAD does not pick up sounds from the guitar strings. You need to have an external pickup or microphone for recording guitar strings. Go to Top
Do I need a MIDI pickup to use ACPAD?
No. You don't need an analog or MIDI pickup to use ACPAD.
You only need an additional microphone or pickup if you want to:
Apply and control effects to the sound output from your guitar, or
What is the battery life of ACPAD?
With a full charge, ACPAD should give you approximately 15 hours of wireless playing time. Go to Top
How do I re-charge my ACPAD?
You can plug in ACPAD to your computer’s USB port with the USB-Mini cable supplied with your ACPAD. You can also use a USB power-bank or any other 5V USB power supply. Go to Top
What's the range of ACPAD Wireless?
ACPAD has a range of about 40m-50m (130 ft-165 ft) when you have direct line-of-sight of your computer. Other playing conditions and the surrounding environment might affect this. Please note that latency may increase with distance from the laptop. Go to Top
What is the latency when using ACPAD?
One of our most important goals when developing ACPAD was to keep the latency low.
Through continual testing and tweaking we have achieved this - to a point where we can perform comfortably with it. Exact Latency figures, will however, vary depending on your system configuration. Go to Top
Making Music with ACPAD
How do I use ACPAD with my iOS devices?
You can pair ACPAD via MIDI over Bluetooth using your favourite MIDI apps from the iOS store (like Garageband). Check out our tutorials page to learn how. Please note that the full hardware capability of ACPAD may not be supported by the app that you use. Go to Top
Does ACPAD come with preset sounds?

Can I put my own sounds on ACPAD?
You cannot store any sounds on ACPAD itself but you can use it to play/trigger sounds you have stored on your computer or mobile device, using the software of your choice. You can also use ACPAD to record sounds or riffs on your DAW then save them as samples and assign them to be triggered by any pad that you wish. Go to Top
Does ACPAD send MIDI out and audio out?

Can ACPAD be used as a looper?
Yes! Each ACPAD has 2 looper capable channels. ACPAD can be used to live record loops using our own software, or with a compatible DAW that offers looping capabilities (such as Ableton Live). ACPAD can also be used to trigger loops of samples within the DAW software of your choice. Go to Top
Do you offer a left handed version of ACPAD?
The current ACPAD has been designed only for right handed guitars.
